Medical Billing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assess patient medical records along with supporting documentation

• Input necessary data elements into the billing system, including ICD-9 codes, charges, and billing narratives

• Execute tasks in accordance with Quick Med Claims policies as well as state and federal regulations

• Achieve or surpass established productivity benchmarks

• Accurately document reviewed accounts

• Attach required documentation in the system or to paper 1500 forms

• Gather additional client information, including HIPAA forms, insurance pre-authorizations, and physician medical necessity documentation, to facilitate third-party claims submission

• Examine billing documents utilizing information from patient care reports, physician medical necessity forms, and hospital face sheets

• Review and confirm electronic or paper claims

• Track tags and workflows to ensure prompt claim validation

• Process insurance claim forms in compliance with federal and state laws as well as departmental procedures

• Deliver accurate and compliant billing

• Maintain billing accuracy scores during quality assurance and audit processes

• Comply with HIPAA privacy, confidentiality, and patient information security policies

• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• 1–2 years of experience in medical billing preferred

• Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) certification preferred

• Proven ability or readiness to obtain QMC Biller Certification upon hiring

• Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute

• Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to utilize multiple windows and programs simultaneously

• Strong customer service orientation

• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Excellent organizational skills

• Adequate written and verbal communication abilities

• Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to operate with minimal oversight

• Capacity to independently manage all facets of the role, objectives, and business practices in a remote setting
