This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Support revenue cycle operations within the billing department.

• Submit medical claims to various insurance providers, including Medicare and Medicaid.

• Collaborate directly with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients to process and settle claims.

• Review and contest unpaid or denied claims.

• Handle patient and insurance refund requests, and record payments or denials from insurance remittances.

• Assist patients in obtaining information regarding charity, Medicaid, or payment plans.

• Utilize coded data to generate and submit claims to insurance entities.

• Stay updated on current billing regulations and trends through participation in seminars, workshops, and webinars.

• Aid patients with benefit verification, appointment scheduling, and account setup.

• Acquire referrals and pre-authorizations as needed.

• Verify eligibility and benefits for treatments, hospital admissions, and procedures.

• Examine patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and gather any missing information.

• Prepare, review, and submit electronic and paper claims utilizing billing software.

• Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle periods.

• Verify insurance payments for accuracy and compliance with contract discounts.

• Communicate with insurance companies regarding payment discrepancies.

• Identify secondary and tertiary insurance coverage options.

• Establish patient payment plans and manage collection accounts.

• Update billing software with any rate adjustments.

• Maintain cash spreadsheets and collection reports.

• Adhere to HIPAA regulations and the Privacy Act.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least one year of experience in medical billing.

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet navigation.

• Excellent interpersonal skills along with strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Reliable work habits and attendance record.

• Ability to work independently.

• Strong problem-solving capabilities.

• Knowledge of chemical dependency and its impact on individuals, families, and communities is preferred.

• Must adhere to HIPAA regulations and the Privacy Act.
