Media Relations Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist the Media Relations team in promoting Humane World for Animals’ mission and enhancing visibility through strategic media relations efforts.

• Create content for social media, press releases, media advisories, op-eds, letters to the editor, and various other media materials.

• Identify and connect with media contacts utilizing media relations platforms.

• Support outreach efforts to reporters.

• Monitor and track media coverage.

• Conduct research on reporters.

• Draft and coordinate content for the X.com account and Humane World News.

• Aid in data collection and analytics to expand media reach.

• Proofread the CEO’s blog.

• Contribute to generating earned media coverage and raising awareness of animal welfare issues.

• Work collaboratively with communications professionals and engage in strategic planning discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in media relations, public relations, or communications is preferred.

• Previous volunteer or internship experience with a non-profit organization, animal protection/advocacy organization, or animal shelter is preferred.

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Strong critical thinking abilities and meticulous attention to detail.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

• Self-motivated and adept at managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

• Capacity to work independently and make sound judgments.

• Cover letter and resume must be submitted together as a single document.
