Mechanical Engineer Consultant 2 – Nuclear Plant Analysis

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage evaluations of licensing basis systems and components for nuclear power uprate projects.

• Conduct consulting-level activities for power uprates within the nuclear sector.

• Prepare and assess calculations related to heat balances, power train pumps, heat exchangers, condenser/heat sink, and plant hazards.

• Draft task reports and equipment evaluations that convey technical information in a clear and concise manner.

• Execute equipment sizing, optimization analysis, and selection for proposed power uprates.

• Collaborate with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and updates on project status.

• Create engineering proposals and develop cost estimates.

• Lead and mentor junior engineering personnel on tasks related to power plant engineering.

• Conduct independent reviews of calculations and the preparation of drawings.

• Attend client meetings and site inspections to confirm scope and ensure client satisfaction.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from a program accredited by the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission.

• At least 10 years of experience in the nuclear power sector.

• Background in nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.

• Experience in evaluating balance of plant systems and components, conducting pinch point assessments, and preparing task reports involving heat balance, power train pumps, heat exchangers, condenser/heat sink, or circulating water and ultimate heat sinks.

• Outstanding technical report writing abilities.

• Familiarity with the practical application of mechanical engineering principles and technology.

• Strong enthusiasm for numerical computations and problem-solving.

• Working knowledge of the codes, standards, and regulations relevant to the mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants.

• Proficiency in MS Office applications.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States; the employer does not provide work authorization sponsorship.

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) from an accredited program is preferred but not mandatory.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
