Mechanical CAD Expert

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Analyze intricate multi-part mechanical assemblies presented in native FreeCAD format

• Interpret relationships between components, interfaces, geometry, and the overall intent of the assembly design

• Review engineering drawings along with relevant technical documentation

• Identify essential mechanical functions, design considerations, and dimensional relationships

• Apply sound engineering judgment when assessing assembly behavior and technical specifics

• Develop objective, precise, and non-speculative question-and-answer sets for designated assemblies

• Create comprehensive technical questions addressing mechanical functions, design rationale, and dimensional aspects

• Produce accurate responses substantiated by source assembly data

• Verify technical conclusions against CAD geometry, drawings, and component interrelations

• Review question-and-answer pairs to ensure logical consistency and technical accuracy

• Prepare clear technical documentation and supplementary notes

• Communicate with project coordinators regarding inquiries, ambiguities, or technical challenges

• Incorporate feedback and adjust deliverables to meet evolving project standards

• Manage assigned tasks independently while adhering to established timelines and quality expectations

⛳️ Requirements

• Established background in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, industrial design, or a closely related field

• Strong foundational and applied knowledge of CAD systems and engineering design principles

• Expertise in analyzing complex mechanical assemblies and interpreting engineering drawings

• Familiarity with FreeCAD is a plus

• Experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor, or similar CAD platforms is highly relevant

• Proven ability to produce clear, precise, and objective technical documentation or assessment materials

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to convey technical insights clearly to diverse audiences

• Comfortable working autonomously and managing deliverables in a remote setting

• Strong dedication to technical accuracy, consistency, and objective assessment

• Work must be accomplished without utilizing confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, institution, or other third party
