Math Instructor, FT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Teach small groups of students foundational math skills aimed at achieving long-term mastery and high ACT/SAT scores.

• Track student progress utilizing Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum.

• Engage students in personalized growth and improvement opportunities.

• Respond to students promptly.

• Maintain and update student lesson schedules on Vanguard’s online platform.

• Hold students accountable for their assignments.

• Design and creatively implement evolving lesson plans and curriculum.

• Mentor middle and high school students during their college preparation journey.

• Collaborate with Vanguard’s instructors, counselors, and specialists.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, education, or a related STEM field from accredited US institutions (Master’s degree or higher preferred; candidates nearing graduation are welcome to apply).

• At least 1 year of teaching experience in mathematics and/or experience in a community college or college-level tutoring center.

• Academic background demonstrating excellence (e.g., a GPA of 3.5 or higher).

• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.

• A reliable internet connection and a dedicated, quiet workspace.

• Strong understanding of classroom pedagogy.

• Capability to develop customized, engaging lesson plans using practical, real-world examples.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to make complex math concepts accessible.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

• Mastery of SAT and ACT Math, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics.
