Maritime IT Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Execute field installations, upgrades, and commissioning of VSAT systems (C/Ku/Ka-band), Starlink, and L-band terminals (such as FleetBroadband and Iridium Certus).

• Carry out IT systems integration, which includes configuring onboard LAN/WAN, IP networking, firewall settings, and performing cybersecurity compliance checks.

• Deliver hands-on technical assistance for onboard IT systems, which encompasses routers, switches, servers, Wi-Fi access points, and IoT maritime devices.

• Work in conjunction with NOC teams and remote engineering support to identify and address connectivity and system performance challenges.

• Conduct site surveys, prepare service reports, generate handover documentation, and create technical records in line with Global Satcoms’ standards.

• Adhere to all safety protocols and fulfill client-specific requirements during onboard tasks.

• Maintain ongoing communication with vessel agents, ship operators, and logistics teams to organize travel, tools, and spare parts for interventions.

• Offer customer training and onboard assistance during handover when needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in field engineering or maritime IT support roles (preferably a minimum of 2 years).

• In-depth knowledge of maritime VSAT, L-band, and hybrid satellite systems.

• Strong grasp of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, VPNs, and best practices in cybersecurity.

• Familiarity with maritime regulations (IMO, ISPS) and the onboard IT environment.

• Capability to read technical diagrams and interpret system schematics accurately.

• Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service abilities.

• Proficient in English; additional languages (such as Spanish, French, or Arabic) are advantageous.

• Valid seafarer’s medical certificate (ENG1 or equivalent).

• Readiness to travel globally with short notice.
