Managing Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and architect digital products utilizing contemporary tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems.

• Leverage scientific and technological expertise for software design, implementation, testing, and documentation.

• Take ownership and manage applications in production, ensuring accountability for product success through key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Plan, direct, design, and execute complex IT-related activities and programs.

• Select, lead, mentor, motivate, set expectations for, and assess medium to large teams.

• Provide guidance to direct reports regarding administrative policies, risks, issues, problem resolution, sourcing decisions, budgets, and priorities.

• Engage in product scoping, discovery, framing, and inception phases, offering technical input.

• Convert user features into system designs and enrich backlogs with technical contributions.

• Lead daily standups, iteration planning meetings, retrospectives, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

• Shape the architecture and design of products.

• Align strategies across product portfolios in collaboration with product managers, colleagues, and stakeholders.

• Provide technical leadership, advise on technology selections, troubleshoot technical challenges, and mediate team conflicts.

• Create and maintain continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practices.

• Contribute to the enhancement of the department's collective expertise.

• Execute other related responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Familiarity with developing software using the TIBCO suite of tools, including BusinessWorks and Business Events.

• Practical experience in architecting, designing, implementing, and delivering large-scale distributed systems and/or cloud applications, including microservices architectures and 12-factor principles.

• Proficiency in various programming languages and the capability to swiftly learn new languages, ideally JavaScript, Java (Spring), and Python.

• Experience in developing REST APIs, encompassing Swagger, REST-docs, OpenAPI, versioning, service discovery/registration, testing, and management.

• Knowledge of web and API security, including authentication, authorization, OAuth, OWASP, OpenID, and SAML.

• Background in backend development, including relational and NoSQL databases, caching, messaging, along with big data development, implementation, and optimization.

• Advanced experience with distributed version control systems (Git), artifact management, build and packaging systems (Maven, Gradle, Artifactory), and continuous integration tools.

• Experience in an eXtreme Programming (XP) or agile environment and paired programming/engineering practices.

• Familiarity with Test Driven Development and testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine, Protractor, and Cucumber.

• A 4-year bachelor's degree is preferred.

• A decade of experience in software development is preferred.

• A combination of education and experience may be evaluated in lieu of the stated education requirements.

• Ability to successfully pass a background investigation.

• Must have a dedicated, private home workspace, appropriate desk and seating, and reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload.
