This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Assist the Managing Attorney in supervising litigation support, court docketing, and ensuring compliance with substantive procedural requirements for the Firm.
• Direct the efforts of the Assistant Managing Clerk and Litigation Docket Specialists based on the West Coast.
• Collaborate with the Managing Attorney to oversee MCO team members on the West Coast.
• Provide training to West Coast MCO staff to ensure the execution of necessary litigation functions.
• Manage docketing and calendaring processes for West Coast cases, which includes tracking and entering legal deadlines from incoming court orders and regulations.
• Electronically submit documents to California federal and state courts.
• Evaluate legal documents for adherence to court regulations.
• Offer expert procedural guidance and coordinate court-related services for attorneys and staff across all departments.
• Perform procedural research across all jurisdictions.
• Bill time selectively as permitted by the partners.
• Organize service of process, liaise with court clerks, and monitor updates on docket sheets.
• Collaborate with external vendors for the retrieval of legal documents and other court-related services, including acquiring apostilles for international documents.
• Execute additional duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is necessary.
• Expertise in New York and federal rules of civil procedure is essential.
• Advanced technical skills, including strong proficiency in e-filing systems and docketing databases, are required.
• A thorough understanding of local, state, and federal civil procedure rules is crucial.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills are mandatory.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with attorneys and staff regarding complex legal procedures is important.
• Capability to manage multiple requests concurrently, prioritize tasks, and achieve solutions within designated deadlines is needed.
• Proven team leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior team members, are required.
