This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Supervise a small team of actuaries and facilitate their training and professional growth.
• Ensure adherence to relevant Actuarial Standards of Practice.
• Oversee pricing, forecasting, reserving, and various actuarial functions.
• Formulate key assumptions and assess financial experiences and trend influencers.
• Create and relay actionable, strategic recommendations to senior management.
• Manage actuarial models that support experience reporting, reserves and accruals, bid pricing/rate filings, forecasting, and contracting models.
• Take ownership of actuarial processes within the organization and with external vendors for designated lines of business.
• Conduct baseline analysis of anticipated future rate adjustments and assist with rate filings to federal and state agencies as necessary.
• Supervise the monthly development and review of IBNR reserve estimates for CareSource lines of business as required.
• Provide updates on processes, projects, goals, and task statuses to leadership as needed.
• A bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent years of relevant professional experience is required.
• Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) certification is required.
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation is preferred.
• Prior experience with value-based care, alternative payment models, and/or other risk-bearing arrangements is preferred.
• A minimum of two to three (2 to 3) years of management experience is preferred.
• A minimum of two to three (2 to 3) years of actuarial experience is preferred.
• Strong database skills in SQL, SAS, or Access are preferred.
• Experience in managed care or healthcare is preferred.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Strong listening and critical thinking abilities are required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism are necessary.
• Capability to manage, develop, and inspire staff is important.
• Ability to set, prioritize, and achieve goals is crucial.
• Ability to engage with all levels of management and external stakeholders is necessary.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail are required.
• Proficiency in auditing and peer review processes is essential.
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team is required.
• Ability to analyze data, develop and maintain models, and present findings and conclusions is essential.
• Sound business judgment in making conclusions and recommendations is necessary.
• Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint are preferred.
• Familiarity with SQL, SAS, R, Python, or other data manipulation tools is advantageous.
• Travel may be required, but it is expected to be less than 10% of the time.
