Senior Actuarial Analyst – Commercial Lines

📋 Description

• Deliver actuarial assistance for the commercial lines divisions at Preferred Mutual.

• Take ownership and build expertise in rating plans and rate indications for commercial lines insurance.

• Prepare support documentation for rate filings associated with program modifications.

• Collaborate with Underwriting and Analytics to assess segment performance and recommend product adjustments.

• Assist in analyzing emerging market trends, competitor pricing approaches, and developments within the industry.

• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and actuarial standards.

• Oversee designated projects, timelines, and quality outcomes.

• Aid management and business teams in understanding results through clear analysis and communication.

• Achieve proficiency in the company’s data sources.

• Collaborate with Data & Analytics to generate actuarial reports and dashboards.

• Track emerging trends in claims and premiums.

• Oversee the performance of Pricing/Underwriting Models and propose necessary adjustments.

• Engage in the development of new pricing and underwriting models.

• Upgrade actuarial tools by leveraging new technologies.

• Advance through CAS actuarial exams and conduct industry research while applying insights on the job.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or a related field.

• A minimum of 4 years of actuarial experience in comparable fields.

• At least 2 years of experience in pricing for commercial lines insurance.

• Successful completion of 4 full actuarial examinations.

• Strong understanding of property and casualty insurance products.

• Capability to work remotely.

• Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite and SQL.

• Experience with rating plans that utilize Generalized Linear Models (GLMs).

• Familiarity with Earnix, Akur8, Quantee, or similar actuarial software is advantageous.

• Must reside in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, or Vermont.
