This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.
• Act as the primary ERM partner for Protective’s P&C divisions, including the Asset Protection Division and the Excess and Surplus line of business.
• Offer constructive and independent challenges to business assumptions, actuarial assessments, risk evaluations, and management decisions.
• Provide guidance on business expansion, risk-taking endeavors, acquisitions, strategic initiatives, and emerging risks.
• Evaluate insurance risk exposures in relation to risk appetite, limits, tolerances, and capital frameworks.
• Create and refine P&C risk metrics, key risk indicators, dashboards, limits, monitoring processes, and escalation protocols.
• Analyze profitability, underwriting performance, adverse loss developments, earnings volatility, catastrophe exposure, concentration risk, and capital impacts.
• Conduct and assess stress testing, scenario analyses, and capital evaluations.
• Oversee reinsurance programs, risk-transfer strategies, collateral arrangements, and counterparty credit exposures.
• Monitor catastrophe exposures, geographic concentrations, and trends in risk accumulation.
• Engage in ORSA activities, regulatory reporting, annual risk assessments, and reviews of emerging risks.
• Convert actuarial and capital analyses into actionable recommendations for business leaders, senior management, ERM committees, and Board discussions.
• Assess risk and capital implications related to P&C acquisitions, new programs, portfolio modifications, and market expansion opportunities.
• Assist in the integration of acquired businesses and risk management practices into Protective’s enterprise risk framework.
• Foster a robust risk culture through education, communication, collaboration, and constructive challenge.
• Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) designation.
• A minimum of seven years of experience in Property & Casualty insurance, actuarial risk management, actuarial consulting, or a related P&C actuarial domain.
• Direct P&C actuarial experience with a strong grasp of P&C insurance products and operations.
• Proven knowledge of underwriting, claims, reinsurance, insurance risk, and capital management.
• Experience in performing or assessing complex actuarial, financial, capital, or enterprise risk analyses.
• Ability to translate technical analyses into clear business insights and actionable recommendations.
• Experience in communicating with and persuading leaders and stakeholders across various functions.
• Comprehensive understanding of P&C insurance risks, products, underwriting, pricing, claims, reserving, reinsurance, and capital management.
• Strong grasp of enterprise risk management principles applicable within an insurance carrier.
• Excellent actuarial judgment, quantitative analysis skills, and structured problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to assess complex financial and risk information and develop practical recommendations.
• Strategic thinking and business acumen.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and contribute with minimal direction.
• Proficiency in responsibly utilizing artificial intelligence tools.
