This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Supervise a small team of actuaries, facilitating their training and personal growth.

• Ensure adherence to relevant Actuarial Standards of Practice.

• Oversee pricing, forecasting, reserving, assumption development, financial experience analysis, and trend-driver evaluation.

• Formulate and relay actionable, strategic recommendations to management.

• Manage actuarial models for experience reporting, reserves and accruals, bid pricing/rate filings, forecasting, and contracting.

• Take ownership of actuarial processes within the organization and with external vendors for designated business lines.

• Conduct baseline analysis of anticipated future rate adjustments and collaborate with federal and state agencies on rate filings as necessary.

• Supervise the development and review of monthly IBNR reserve estimates as needed.

• Report on processes, projects, goals, and task statuses to the leadership.

• Execute other job-related tasks as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent years of pertinent work experience is required.

• Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) certification is required.

• Previous experience in supplemental benefits is preferred.

• Two to three years of management experience is preferred.

• Two to three years of actuarial experience is preferred.

• Strong experience with databases such as SQL, SAS, or Access is preferred.

• Experience in managed care or healthcare is preferred.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Exceptional listening and critical-thinking abilities.

• Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism.

• Capability to manage, develop, and inspire staff.

• Ability to establish, prioritize, and achieve goals.

• Competence to engage with various levels of management and external stakeholders.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.

• Strong auditing and peer-review skills.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

• Proficiency in data analysis, model development, and reporting findings and conclusions.

• Sound business judgment in drawing conclusions and making recommendations.

• Expert level proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

• Knowledge of SQL, SAS, R, Python, or other data manipulation software is desired.

• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation is preferred.

• General office environment; may require prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

• Travel may be required, but limited to less than 10% of the time.
