This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +4 more states.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise a regional team of Network Solutions Architects.
• Develop and implement training programs focusing on network design, mobile backhaul, and security.
• Manage the design and integration of ASTRO P25 LMR networks with client enterprise applications.
• Ensure the deployment of intricate LAN/WAN designs utilizing Motorola Solutions and third-party vendor equipment.
• Provide escalation and tier-3 troubleshooting support for complex network and mobile backhaul challenges.
• Offer regional design guidance for P25-LMR, LTE, Smart Public Safety, and enterprise application transport networks.
• Supervise layer-1 and layer-2 transport media design specifications, including fiber and microwave technologies.
• Collaborate on bid strategies, project implementations, and regional resource allocation for NSAs.
• Review and present sophisticated technical system designs to clients and engineering leadership.
• Uphold documentation standards for both high-level and detailed network designs.
• Manage network infrastructure security audits and enforce best testing practices.
• Assess third-party vendor equipment and advise on future investments in mobile backhaul technology.
• Advocate for software tools and automation to enhance network design and deployment processes.
• Address customer, team, and project needs through regional travel.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience in managing technical engineering teams within a mission-critical or public safety setting.
• Legal authorization to work indefinitely in the U.S.
• Employer work permit sponsorship is not available.
• Experience in managing, leading, or mentoring technical engineering teams in a mission-critical environment.
• Willingness to travel 25–50% within the Mid-West and Western Regions of the U.S.; occasional travel outside the region may be necessary.
• Proficiency in guiding the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and virtualized servers.
• JNCIA, NRS I, or equivalent industry-recognized certification is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, and G8032 ring protection.
• Familiarity with equipment from Juniper, Nokia, HP, and Fortinet.
• Understanding of Metro Ethernet, Frame-Relay, Ethernet, SONET, fiber, copper, and microwave technologies.
• Experience with Motorola ASTRO 25 architecture is preferred.
• Skills in scripting/programming for network automation are preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google applications.
• Experience with Network Management Applications such as SolarWinds, JUNO-Space, Nokia NFMP, and Provision is advantageous.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues, customers, and third-party service professionals.
