Manager, Operations, Recycling & Hauling

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily operations, team collaboration, and performance management of CAA's open market recycling collection network throughout Colorado.

• Convert operational efficiencies into practical work plans and lead a dedicated team.

• Manage the Open Market business segment by overseeing timelines, risks, deliverables, implementation, service expansion, service agreement amendments, compliance, and collection performance goals.

• Handle relationships and operations with private-sector service providers for Open Market EPR initiatives.

• Represent CAA Colorado at meetings with service providers and industry stakeholders.

• Supervise the onboarding of service providers, ensuring operational readiness, service delivery, reporting, annual cost evaluations, changes in reimbursements, and compliance with service-level agreements.

• Analyze operational, contractual, reporting, and performance metrics; identify challenges, trends, risks, and areas for enhancement.

• Lead corrective action initiatives and performance improvement efforts for service providers that are not meeting expectations.

• Collaborate with legal, procurement, claims, finance, compliance, project managers, consultants, and national CAA teams.

• Oversee collection-related implementation efforts, drop-off operations, service expansion, and customer experience improvements.

• Work together on service provider education, outreach, and regulatory advancements in EPR.

• Assist with procurement, contract development, contract management, studies, pilot programs, and process enhancements.

• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, sustainability, engineering, or a relevant field, or equivalent professional experience.

• More than 5 years of pertinent experience in recycling, solid waste management, procurement, contract management, operational program oversight, vendor management, account management, or service provider operations.

• Proven knowledge of residential recycling collection operations, drop-off locations, contracted collection, service provider networks, and logistics.

• Experience in supporting RFPs, evaluation criteria, technical and financial assessments, contract negotiations, implementation planning, and ongoing contract management.

• Experience in supervising or leading small teams, prioritizing tasks, coaching staff, and ensuring adherence to deadlines and deliverables.

• Proficiency in workflow automation, AI technologies, Salesforce, and back-office technology platforms.

• Must maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

• Willingness to travel to meet service providers, haulers, transfer stations, MRFs, drop-off sites, and other operational partners.
