This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya, +4 more countries.
• Take ownership of the complete phone procurement process across GiveDirectly’s country programs.
• Collaborate with Programs and country Operations & Procurement Managers to develop and uphold rolling demand forecasts by country and model.
• Convert forecasts into purchasing timelines that prevent stockouts and overstock situations.
• Manage supplier communications for both feature phones and smartphones.
• Execute RFQ/RFP processes to onboard new suppliers in conjunction with country procurement teams.
• Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, pricing, and reliability with vendors.
• Process and track purchase orders from initiation through to delivery.
• Work closely with Finance on vendor payments, handling invoice discrepancies, and tracking budgets.
• Oversee returns, warranty claims, and the resolution of defective devices.
• Monitor and report on OTIF, cost savings, and satisfaction levels within Programs.
• Identify and flag price increases, supply shortages, and customs delays before they impact delivery.
• Collaborate with the Phone Inventory System Lead and Global Supply Chain to enhance inventory visibility.
• Report directly to the Senior Manager, Global Supply Chain.
• Achieve high on-time-in-full performance, deliver year-over-year savings on phone expenditures, and enhance Programs satisfaction.
• Strong alignment with GiveDirectly Values, showcasing emotional intelligence, problem-solving abilities, project management skills, follow-through, and promoting inclusivity.
• Proficiency in the English language is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or vendor/category management.
• Experience in sourcing electronics, telecom, or hardware is a significant advantage.
• Familiarity with demand forecasting and purchase order management is essential.
• Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record in managing supplier relationships.
• Experience in resolving commercial disputes, including managing returns and warranty claims.
• Ability to coordinate effectively across various African countries, time zones, and stakeholder groups.
• Preferred location: Nairobi; however, any GiveDirectly country office (New York, Washington DC, Nairobi, Kampala, Kigali, London) is open for the right candidate.
• For candidates based in the U.S. and U.K., appropriate work authorization is required as GiveDirectly is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas.
• Annual benefits stipend of $21,393 (United States).
• Annual benefits stipend of £2,760 (United Kingdom).
