This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Supervise the operations of the Patient Benefit Advising call center across UMMG practice and Hospital Division entry points.
• Lead and manage the On-site Patient Access Financial Counseling team that assists patients with their insurance benefits, self-pay obligations, and payment plans.
• Develop departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
• Prioritize tasks and organize workflow to ensure a seamless patient experience.
• Review the work and productivity reports of subordinates for timeliness and quality.
• Identify areas for improvement and engage in quality enhancement initiatives.
• Monitor Department Activity Reports and work queues to guarantee that patients are verified and financially cleared before receiving services.
• Address operational, technical, and program-related issues as they arise.
• Act as the primary resource regarding insurance benefits, contracting, and financial counseling policies and procedures.
• Recruit, assess, counsel, discipline, and train assigned team members.
• Identify training deficiencies and formulate plans to rectify them.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and oversight of the annual operating budget.
• Perform additional Patient Access-related tasks as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience.
• A relevant Bachelor’s degree is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in healthcare management is required.
• In-depth knowledge of insurance eligibility and benefits, contracting, and financial counseling.
• Understanding of accounting, finance, and business management principles.
• Familiarity with pre-admission processes, billing, collection, third-party payer regulations, and self-pay balances.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant computer applications.
• Capability to create policies, procedures, processes, and programs to enhance upfront collections.
• Ability to formulate budgets and oversee expenditures.
• Skills in data analysis and statistical interpretation, including trend analysis.
• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively with managers, directors, leadership, patients, families, staff, and insurance payers.
