Manager, Facilities Operations – Commissioning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Oversee commissioning teams within the designated region, enhancing team capabilities.

• Adhere to operational and commissioning standards to ensure quality, safety, and effective ongoing operations.

• Manage travel budgets and ensure compliance with organizational expenditure policies.

• Assist in site construction activities and installations while collaborating with project departments and external construction teams.

• Guide Cx Engineers in witnessing equipment testing and validating sequences of operations along with operational documentation.

• Aid in revising comprehensive Level 1–5 commissioning plans for connectivity, infrastructure, security, life safety, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems.

• Identify, monitor, and resolve commissioning challenges in collaboration with project teams.

• Provide insights and feedback to program management to foster continuous improvement.

• Support site teams with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Method of Procedures (MOPs), Emergency Response Plans (ERPs), and formal change management processes.

• Develop team metrics and lead initiatives for quality improvement, standards compliance, vendor oversight, project completions, and turnover.

• Promote innovation and environmentally sustainable improvements in facilities programs and systems.

• Collaborate with vendors, Engineering, Development, and peer operations teams.

• Maintain effective communication and relationships with staff and executive management.

• Ensure adherence to OSHA standards and national electrical and building codes.

• Facilitate staff training and professional development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or relevant HVAC or critical power certifications, or equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.

• A minimum of five years of direct engineering-related experience in a technical or critical environment.

• Preferred: ten years or more of direct engineering-related experience in a technical or critical environment.

• Preferred: five years or more of experience in data center engineering, commissioning, project management, or a related field.

• Preferred: at least three years of management or supervisory experience overseeing engineering or critical operations managers.

• Proficiency and strong working knowledge of data center critical and construction environments.

• Capability to develop solutions and technical strategic and tactical plans for complex projects.

• Advanced understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment, systems, and data center design.

• Familiarity with emergency backup systems, including generators, UPS, and battery backup.

• Knowledge of building monitoring/controls, electrical distribution, telecommunications, access controls, CCTV, life safety systems, and building subsystems.

• Experience with project management and commissioning management software systems.

• Ability to lead multiple commissioning teams through various stages of commissioning.

• Willingness to travel approximately 30–50% to other sites across the U.S.
