This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead day-to-day operations for the Design organization.
• Ensure that Design tasks are adequately staffed, prioritized, and making progress.
• Oversee team capacity, workload, priorities, commitments, risks, conflicts, and resource shortages across the portfolio.
• Clarify work priorities, rationale, and requirements to advance projects.
• Directly execute Design tasks when capacity limitations or urgent timelines arise.
• Assist designers and cross-functional partners in managing shifting priorities, dependencies, and competing demands.
• Enhance team processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leaders to incorporate Design into planning, prioritization, and delivery processes.
• Identify opportunities to reduce friction and enhance collaboration.
• Establish and uphold shared Design practices, standards, and expectations.
• Lead, coach, mentor, and nurture the team.
• Provide clear expectations, feedback, performance management, and career development support.
• Identify skill gaps and create learning and experimentation opportunities.
• Assist designers in developing skills for AI-native product development.
• Promote curiosity, continuous learning, collaboration, accountability, and adaptability.
• Cultivate an inclusive team culture that transcends geographic and organizational boundaries.
• Recruit and retain Design talent while contributing to staffing and organizational planning.
• Develop emerging leaders and amplify team members' impact.
• Foster relationships with Product, Engineering, and other business partners.
• Represent Design in cross-functional planning and prioritization.
• Incorporate customer needs and experience considerations into product decisions.
• Communicate Design priorities, progress, risks, and opportunities effectively.
• Contribute to the advancement of the Experience Design organization, including its operating model, practices, and standards.
• Promote a consistent, scalable approach to Design.
• Support the development and adoption of the design system, patterns, guidelines, and best practices.
• Document workflows, processes, and decision-making points.
• Stay informed about emerging Design practices, AI capabilities, and AI-native product development.
• Translate relevant opportunities into actionable team practices.
• Demonstrate adaptability through changes in tools, processes, technology, and organizational priorities.
• Fulfill assigned performance goals, special projects, and other responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Design or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Over 5 years of professional experience in UX Design, Product Design, Interaction Design, or a related area.
• Experience in leading, mentoring, or developing designers or other creative professionals.
• Strong grasp of user-centered Design practices.
• Excellent organizational and operational skills, including managing competing priorities, assessing capacity, coordinating work across multiple teams, and allocating Design resources.
• Ability to cultivate effective working relationships with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional partners.
• Experience in translating ambiguous stakeholder input into structured requirements or documented workflows.
• Willingness to seamlessly transition between managing the team's work and executing it personally.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Capability to work effectively in environments with changing priorities, ambiguity, and evolving methodologies.
• Experience in designing AI-driven experiences, including considerations for uncertainty, trust, transparency, and human decision-making.
• Familiarity with using AI tools to enhance Design work, boost productivity, or explore innovative approaches.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and adaptation to new Design tools, technologies, and methodologies.
• Ability to maintain a dedicated, secure work area.
• Ability to provide high-speed internet access/connectivity and manage office setup and maintenance.
