Manager, Data Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee, mentor, and nurture a team of 2–3 analysts, which includes setting goals, providing feedback, managing performance, and facilitating career growth.

• Establish and uphold technical and analytical quality standards for SQL, dbt models, dashboards, and analyses.

• Handle daily prioritization of requests from Operations stakeholders and escalate trade-offs and resource allocation decisions as needed.

• Spearhead intricate cross-functional analytical projects, transforming ambiguous business challenges into actionable analysis and well-informed recommendations.

• Identify root causes in data and convert insights into specific recommendations.

• Conduct scenario analyses and assess impact for product, operational, and staffing choices.

• Set standards for Operations dashboards and reporting, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and documented assumptions.

• Present results to operational stakeholders and senior leadership, defending methodologies used.

• Ensure the quality and reliability of dbt models and analytical datasets.

• Collaborate with central data teams regarding upstream pipelines and data platform requirements.

• Transition manual data pulls to sustainable reporting, automation, and alert systems.

• Collaborate on the Operations analytics AI roadmap, encompassing use-case prioritization, data readiness, and validation processes.

• Guarantee that trusted data, metrics, and evaluation frameworks are in place to support agent development.

• Monitor deployed agent performance in alignment with Operations objectives.

• Determine areas where AI can be relied upon and where human oversight is essential.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data analytics, or strategic operations.

• At least 2 years of direct management experience with analysts, including responsibilities for performance management, hiring, and career development.

• Advanced proficiency in SQL; capable of writing, quality assuring, and optimizing complex queries.

• Working knowledge of dbt; able to construct and review models while making informed design decisions.

• Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional projects from inception to completion.

• Experience in creating and maintaining dashboards using Sigma, Tableau, or similar tools.

• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to articulate complex issues to senior leaders effectively.

• Exceptional attention to detail and the capability to identify data quality concerns.

• A live, on-screen technical exercise is required during the interview process.
