This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +3 more states.
• Provide strategic leadership and guidance for the Compute Services division, which includes the Data Center Services and Cloud Platform & Infrastructure Operations teams.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects to create and sustain technology roadmaps for compute, virtualization, storage, backup, and hybrid cloud platforms.
• Cultivate talent through mentoring, constructive feedback, and targeted growth opportunities.
• Ensure adherence to architectural standards, design principles, and operational practices across both on-premises and cloud compute environments.
• Supervise the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of on-premises compute platforms, which encompass server hardware, hypervisors, operating systems (Linux, Windows), Azure compute services, and enterprise backup systems.
• Work in conjunction with Architecture teams to guarantee that solutions are in alignment with enterprise standards and facilitate long-term modernization efforts.
• Promote operational excellence through effective monitoring, automation, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Uphold a robust security posture across compute platforms by managing patching, hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance efforts.
• Collaborate with Information Security to verify that compute services comply with security and governance requirements.
• Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement related to compute platforms, including contract negotiations.
• Establish and manage budgets for related services, capital expenditures, and operational expenses.
• Assist with demand planning, project prioritization, and resource distribution across compute teams.
• Manage service transition processes, ensuring that Build-to-Run handoffs are thoroughly completed, documented, and operationally prepared.
• Provide escalation support for complex incidents and issues, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning, ensuring the team is prepared with the necessary skills for current and future technologies.
• At least 10+ years of IT infrastructure experience with a focus on compute, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
• A minimum of 5+ years in leadership or management roles, overseeing technical teams and personnel.
• Technical expertise in server infrastructure and hypervisors, including VMware technologies and Nutanix AHV hyper-converged infrastructure, as well as hybrid cloud architectures.
• Experience in managing Cloud (Azure) compute services, landing zones, automation, cloud governance, and FinOps.
• Knowledge of enterprise backup systems, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
• Proficient with Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, DNS, authentication, and identity integration.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 platforms and services.
• Proven experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and procurement processes.
• Excellent project and process management skills, including familiarity with ITIL practices.
• Experience in manufacturing environments is preferred but not mandatory.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
