This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Recruit, onboard, train, and oversee the performance of the analytics and data engineering team.
• Establish technical standards and manage the dbt repository as a collaborative platform.
• Evaluate pull requests, make architectural decisions, and create guidelines for testing, documentation, continuous integration, and change management.
• Manage the Snowflake data warehouse, dbt, source ingestion and freshness, external tables, along with AWS Glue/CDK tasks.
• Model essential business domains such as orders, contracts, claims, and service orders.
• Drive platform migrations, including transitioning dbt execution to Snowflake-native tools and decommissioning outdated components.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to convert business inquiries into models and define roadmap priorities.
• Enhance data quality through schema validation, freshness monitoring, and audits of critical services.
• Conduct on-call duties, monitoring, alerting, incident triage, and follow-up on root causes.
• Facilitate self-service capabilities through comprehensive documentation, semantic consistency, and business intelligence access.
• Automate operational tasks utilizing AI-driven workflows for alert triage, refresh requests, and file processing.
• Report to the Senior Engineering Manager of Data Engineering while managing a remote team.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience managing engineers in a data or analytics engineering team, encompassing hiring, performance evaluations, and career development.
• Proficiency in advanced SQL and dimensional modeling.
• Extensive experience with dbt, including version control, testing, pull request evaluations, continuous integration, and change management.
• Experience in pipeline engineering with Python and cloud data infrastructure.
• Familiarity with AWS Glue, Step Functions, Lambda, and CDK.
• Experience in on-call support for a data platform, developing alerting systems, and leading incident response efforts.
• Experience providing support to analysts, data scientists, or quantitative teams.
• Capability to translate business inquiries into data models.
• Excellent written communication skills for architecture proposals, incident reviews, and tradeoff summaries.
• Strong judgment in prioritization.
