Malayalam VRI/OPI Interpreter

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Respond to calls in a professional manner, adhering to the Interpreter's code of conduct.

• Always be ready to take notes during a call.

• Familiarize yourself with the specific vocabulary relevant to the industry you will be interpreting in (especially healthcare and medical)—training will be provided.

• Accurately and completely convey all messages, without adding, omitting, or substituting any content.

• Deliver the highest standard of customer service while interpreting.

• Facilitate effective communication between Limited English Proficient individuals and clients by providing precise and complete interpretations of messages.

• Adhere to established standards of practice.

• Participate in internal professional training programs.

• Show enthusiasm for obtaining new professional certifications.

• Communicate and report to your team leader regularly.

• Follow dress code guidelines for video remote interpreting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in the source language (English) and a native speaker of the target language 'Malayalam'.

• At least 1 year of experience in telephone interpretation with a reputable interpretation company is advantageous, but not essential.

• Good understanding of medical terminology is beneficial, but not required.

• Familiarity with legal terminology is a plus.

• International certifications in the healthcare sector are an advantage (such as PICSI, ALTA, HIPAA, etc.).

• High school diploma in your native language.

• Strong emotional intelligence and cultural tolerance.

• Excellent communication, listening, note-taking, and memory retention skills.
