Mainframe Systems Programmer, DB2 Physical

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver exceptional DB2 sysprog support and services to Ensono mainframe clients.

• Conduct upgrades, administration, and performance tuning of mainframe database software.

• Collaborate with vendor personnel to swiftly resolve database issues.

• Carry out daily database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, file extent growth monitoring, and reorganization scheduling.

• Develop and uphold disaster recovery procedures.

• Enhance database performance through efficiency reporting, configuration analysis, and performance reviews.

• Design, support, and tailor new services and support initiatives.

• Engage in on-call responsibilities.

• Process customer service orders for mainframe z/OS clients related to DB2.

• Serve as the primary support for issues related to DB2 tablespaces.

• Provide 24x7x365 support across various time zones.

• Assist with customer migration services involving DB2 and associated OEM software products.

• Support project managers during new customer migrations and help overcome technical challenges.

• Implement tasks linked to customer disaster recovery plans in collaboration with Disaster Recovery Services.

• Manage resources and schedules to ensure timely implementations.

• Adhere to ITSM change control protocols.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience.

• Over 5 years of professional experience in DB2 administration and systems programming support, including IDAA.

• Familiarity with best practices in software management, maintenance, and documentation.

• Experience with SMP/e.

• Competence in configuring and managing DB2 in a parallel sysplex environment.

• Capability to develop innovative strategies, processes, and best practices in software management.

• Experience in establishing policies and procedures for database management, disaster recovery, security, maintenance, and utilization.

• Experience in reviewing new DB2 versions and advising clients on their advantages.

• Ability to assess change requests, determine client impact, and troubleshoot production database issues.

• Experience in supporting DB2 security requests.

• Ability to review DB2 security and identify potential vulnerabilities.

• Experience in reorganizing application data.

• Experience in reviewing and optimizing internal DB2 buffer pools and SQL code.

• Ability to respond quickly and effectively to support requests from multiple clients.

• Capability to support multiple customers during after-hours on-call.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently.

• Ability to multitask and perform under tight deadlines and high-pressure circumstances.

• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

• Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
