Mainframe Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain mainframe applications utilizing COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.

• Support, maintain, and enhance essential mainframe applications.

• Provide technical troubleshooting and resolution for intricate application and integration challenges.

• Conduct performance tuning and optimization of mainframe applications and database queries.

• Create technical documentation, including knowledge base articles and standard operating procedures (SOPs), for business and support teams.

• Comprehend functional and technical requirements and offer implementation/change options that align with business objectives.

• Manage incidents, service requests, and change requests.

• Serve as a technical lead and mentor junior team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• 3–5 years of specialized technical experience.

• Extensive experience in the development, support, and maintenance of mainframe applications.

• Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.

• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies.

• Experience with version control systems and software development tools.

• Familiarity with enterprise-level ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Service Manager.

• Experience working on both waterfall and agile methodology projects.

• Ability to manage incidents, service requests, and change requests concurrently.

• US Citizen or US Green Card Holder.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
