Mainframe Datacom Database Engineer, Spanish Speaking Preferred

📋 Description

• Manage and oversee Broadcom Datacom databases within a z/OS environment

• Conduct database provisioning, configuration, monitoring, capacity planning, and performance optimization

• Carry out database backup, recovery, reorganization, and maintenance tasks utilizing Datacom utilities

• Monitor database uptime and address performance and operational challenges

• Assist with incident, problem, and change management processes

• Ensure database resilience, integrity, and compliance with regulations

• Provide support for IBM z/OS infrastructure and related mainframe technologies

• Evaluate system and application performance using monitoring and diagnostic tools

• Take part in disaster recovery testing and business continuity drills

• Collaborate on software upgrades, patches, and platform enhancements

• Provide support for Datacom-based COBOL and other mainframe applications

• Aid in database design, access path optimization, and query performance

• Support application releases into testing and production environments

• Resolve application and database incidents throughout the software development lifecycle

• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions

• Integrate Datacom environments into contemporary engineering toolchains

• Facilitate API enablement, automation, CI/CD adoption, and DevOps practices

• Enhance operational efficiency through scripting and automation

• Contribute to cloud connectivity, application transformation, and mainframe modernization projects

• Maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience supporting Broadcom Datacom (CA Datacom) databases

• Familiarity with Datacom architecture, utilities, database structures, and performance tuning

• Experience in database backup, recovery, reorganization, and capacity management

• Understanding of database security, access control, and auditing requirements

• Extensive experience in IBM z/OS environments

• Strong knowledge of JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, CICS, VSAM, RACF, and mainframe batch processing

• Familiarity with system monitoring and diagnostic tools

• Experience in supporting applications developed in COBOL

• Solid understanding of relational database concepts and data modeling

• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and change management processes

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

• Capability to analyze complex technical issues and propose sustainable solutions

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

• Experience working in large, enterprise-scale financial services or highly regulated environments

• Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing skills

• Fluent or professional working proficiency in Spanish is preferred

• Knowledge of banking, payments, or the financial services sector is preferred

• Experience with DevOps tooling and automation frameworks is preferred

• Exposure to modern API integration and application modernization initiatives is preferred

• Experience with Agile delivery methodologies is preferred

• Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, Ansible, UrbanCode, or similar tools is preferred

• Understanding of hybrid cloud and distributed platform integration with mainframe environments is preferred

• Broadcom Datacom certifications or equivalent practical experience is preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

• Relevant Mainframe, IBM Z, Broadcom Datacom, or database certifications are desirable

• BPSS eligibility
