Machine Learning Lead Engineer, Machine Learning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mali.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the comprehensive Machine Learning (ML) systems that support the company, encompassing data management, training, evaluation, inference, and deployment.

• Develop and enhance training and fine-tuning pipelines for extensive models.

• Create evaluation systems that assess capability, robustness, safety, and real-world product performance.

• Design high-performance inference systems that optimize latency, GPU usage, memory, cost, and reliability.

• Construct data pipelines and systems to ensure high-quality real-world and synthetic training data.

• Establish a dependable production infrastructure for deploying, monitoring, and continuously refining models.

• Collaborate with research and application engineering teams to translate model capabilities into product enhancements.

• Make pragmatic technical decisions and swiftly iterate based on real-world performance data.

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues promptly to minimize user impact.

• Support and guide team members to achieve high-impact ML outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in Machine Learning (ML) is essential.

• Experience in developing and deploying Machine Learning (ML) systems in production environments, not solely research prototypes.

• A solid understanding of contemporary large model training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and inference techniques.

• Strong fundamentals in software engineering and systems design.

• Experience in operating Machine Learning (ML) workloads at significant scale, particularly with GPU-based systems.

• Excellent technical judgment and the ability to independently navigate ambiguous challenges.

• An inclination towards experimentation, measurement, and implementation.

• High standards for accuracy, reliability, and production quality.

• Proficiency in Python, PyTorch/JAX, and GPU-based training and inference systems.

• Must be prepared to undertake a 60-minute coding assessment.
