Machine Learning Engineer – Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Design, train, and implement machine learning models for tasks such as text classification, entity extraction, clustering, as well as narrative and topic detection.

• Develop and enhance features powered by large language models (LLMs), including prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic workflows.

• Create embedding and semantic search pipelines to categorize related content and identify emerging threats.

• Transform models into scalable, monitored services with clearly defined latency, cost, and accuracy objectives.

• Establish evaluation frameworks and datasets to assess model quality, bias, and drift over time.

• Collaborate with data engineering teams to optimize the ingestion, labeling, and feature pipelines for high-volume, noisy, multilingual text data.

• Oversee and retrain models in a production environment, troubleshooting quality issues from start to finish.

• Participate in daily standups and technical discussions with the client team based in the US.

• Develop an AI-driven risk intelligence platform that enables enterprises to detect, evaluate, and respond to emerging online threats.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of professional experience in building and deploying machine learning models in a production setting.

• Proficient in Python with practical experience in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face Transformers.

• Hands-on experience in natural language processing (NLP) tasks such as classification, named entity recognition (NER), topic modeling, or semantic similarity applied to real-world text data.

• Practical experience with large language models (LLMs), including prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).

• Knowledge of embeddings and vector search technologies, such as pgvector, Pinecone, OpenSearch, or FAISS.

• Experience in deploying and managing machine learning services on platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, utilizing Docker and CI/CD practices.

• Strong understanding of model evaluation practices, including metrics, test sets, error analysis, and production monitoring.
