Machine Learning Engineer, Answers Relevance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee ML projects from conception to deployment.

• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams on recommendations, search, messaging, and AI systems.

• Design and enhance large-scale ML systems, including retrieval and ranking, embeddings, and features powered by LLMs.

• Establish technical direction and achieve measurable impacts for users and the business.

• Coordinate with partner teams to define product and technical roadmaps.

• Assess new AI/ML methodologies and promote responsible development of LLMs.

• Mentor engineering staff and engage in long-term ML strategy planning.

• Create Answers systems that enhance Reddit content to be smarter, more relevant, and more useful.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4–12 years of experience in building, deploying, and managing ML systems in a production environment.

• Extensive understanding of ML principles with practical application experience; expert-level modeling proficiency is not mandatory.

• Proficiency in developing and deploying models using TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face Transformers.

• Experience in writing production-grade code, encompassing testing, evaluation, and monitoring.

• Proficiency in Python is essential.

• Experience with Golang is advantageous.

• Familiarity with ML systems, including data pipelines, feature engineering, model training and serving, and production monitoring.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Proven track record of delivering measurable product impact.

• Experience in areas such as recommendations, search, content understanding, large-scale data and ML infrastructure, large-scale RecSys, retriever models, RAG systems, retrieval methods, LLM evaluation, production LLM features, agentic AI, self-hosted open-weight models, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, post-training, prompt optimization, grounding, instruction following, hallucination reduction, LLM system scaling, safety measures, product success metrics, feedback loops, or human review.
