Senior ML Engineer – Agentic Search

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design, train, and implement ML models for retrieval, reranking, and search relevance in a production setting.

• Construct and enhance embedding-based indexing and large-scale retrieval systems.

• Develop models that assist with crawling, data selection, and comprehension of content.

• Establish and refine quality metrics for agent-native search and develop evaluation pipelines.

• Engage with systems that operate at a very large scale, including high-throughput query workloads.

• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate ML models into production services.

• Analyze performance trade-offs regarding latency, quality, and cost.

• Experiment with and implement cutting-edge techniques in search, retrieval, and LLM-integrated systems.

• Contribute to product and architectural decisions in a dynamic environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering or applied machine learning.

• Proficient programming skills in Python, Go, or C++.

• Demonstrated experience in deploying ML models within production systems.

• Practical experience with retrieval, ranking, recommendation, or similar ML challenges.

• Strong understanding of machine learning and contemporary deep learning methodologies.

• Experience with large-scale data systems and high-throughput environments.

• Capability to design evaluation frameworks and establish meaningful model metrics.

• Product-oriented mindset focused on impact and iteration.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work within a distributed team.

• Applicants must be authorized to work in the country of application and provide proof of employment eligibility.

• Experience with search systems or large-scale information retrieval is a plus.

• Familiarity with embeddings, transformers, and modern NLP systems is advantageous.

• Experience with LLM-powered or agent-based systems is a bonus.

• Contributions to open-source projects, technical publications, or conference presentations are desirable.

• Participation in competitive ML platforms like Kaggle, or similar indicators of strong technical proficiency, is a plus.
