M&A Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Identify and source software companies that align with acquisition standards and essential performance metrics.

• Create and implement focused prospecting campaigns through email outreach and outbound calls.

• Experiment with new business development techniques and seek out potential deal opportunities.

• Establish and maintain relationships with potential acquisition targets and sell-side M&A investment banking firms.

• Oversee initial evaluations of prospective acquisitions, including preliminary business and financial due diligence, as well as opportunity and risk assessments.

• Manage and maintain the deal pipeline, ensuring it is up-to-date as targets and information arise.

• Conduct industry and market research to uncover trends and identify acquisition prospects.

• Review and assess investment documents, transforming data into actionable insights and presentations.

• Drive acquisition opportunities through the entire deal lifecycle, from sourcing to execution.

• Prioritize and allocate tasks based on deal timelines and their strategic significance.

• Provide analytical and operational assistance to the wider team.

• Collaborate across functions on data requests, due diligence, internal coordination, and deal execution.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Corporate Development is essential.

• Previous experience with software M&A transactions is preferred.

• Strong academic performance from a leading institution.

• An undergraduate degree in business or a related field is preferred.

• Professional maturity and confidence in engaging with C-level executives.

• Highly proactive, self-driven, and motivated, with excellent sales and communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal abilities and proven leadership potential.

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial modeling.

• Knowledge of software business models and the M&A transaction lifecycle.

• Strong analytical skills, pattern recognition, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
