LTL Operations Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily LTL operations for a dedicated set of ATG offices and clients.

• Act as an expert resource for LTL systems, processes, carrier requirements, and operational best practices.

• Track shipments and proactively assist with issues related to delayed, damaged, missing, or misrouted freight.

• Arrange pickup and delivery appointments with customers, carriers, and receiving locations.

• Investigate and relay carrier rules, tariffs, accessorial requirements, service limitations, and applicable fees.

• Aid in freight classification, NMFC-related inquiries, shipment dimensions, and other necessary information to accurately quote and transport LTL freight.

• Assist with billing disputes, carrier invoice challenges, claims, and shipment-related escalations.

• Communicate directly with carriers to address operational and service-related problems.

• Keep precise shipment records, notes, documentation, and follow-up activities.

• Identify recurring service or process challenges and collaborate with internal teams to enhance the customer and agent experience.

• Work closely with ATG LTL, billing, claims, and operations teams.

• Educate agents and internal teams on LTL processes, carrier requirements, and best practices.

• Maintain a high level of responsiveness and customer service while juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Required transportation or logistics experience, ideally in LTL transportation, freight brokerage, carrier operations, or customer service.

• Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to manage multiple shipments, issues, and priorities at the same time.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

• Proficient in researching issues, identifying solutions, and taking ownership to resolve them.

• Comfortable interacting with customers, carriers, agents, and internal teams.

• Proficiency in transportation management systems and standard business applications.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Position may be based in Atlanta, Charlotte, or Chicago, with consideration for remote candidates.

• 2-3+ years of professional experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field.

• Previous experience in LTL transportation is strongly preferred.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

• Experience handling freight billing, carrier invoice discrepancies, claims, or transportation disputes.

• Familiarity with freight classification, NMFC, carrier rules tariffs, and LTL accessorial charges.

• Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical capabilities.
