LTL Invoice Resolution Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Examine LTL carrier invoices to spot discrepancies between quoted, contracted, and billed amounts.

• Investigate and rectify billing exceptions, including reweighs, reclasses, accessorials, duplicate charges, minimum charges, and other carrier adjustments.

• Verify carrier charges against pricing agreements, tariffs, shipment documentation, dimensions, weights, freight classifications, and applicable rules.

• Submit and oversee carrier billing disputes until resolution, including providing supporting documentation, follow-ups, escalations, and credit verifications.

• Engage directly with LTL carriers to contest unsupported charges and secure corrections, credits, or additional documentation.

• Collaborate with ATG agents, operations, pricing, billing, claims, and accounting teams to resolve invoice issues promptly and accurately.

• Investigate shipment history, bills of lading, proofs of delivery, inspection reports, carrier notes, and other documentation required to support dispute resolution.

• Monitor open disputes and aging items, keeping organized notes, and proactively following up until each issue is resolved.

• Assist in ensuring customer billing accuracy by identifying carrier-side errors before they affect customers whenever possible.

• Recognize recurring billing patterns, carrier behaviors, or process gaps and escalate opportunities for broader corrective actions.

• Maintain organized records of disputes, credits, approvals, and supporting documentation within ATG systems.

• Provide clear and timely updates to internal stakeholders regarding the status, financial impact, and resolution of invoice discrepancies.

• Support special projects, audits, and process enhancements related to LTL billing accuracy and invoice resolution.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in transportation, logistics, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or invoice resolution is required.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when reviewing rates, charges, and shipment documentation.

• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to manage a large volume of open issues while prioritizing based on urgency, financial impact, and aging.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to interact directly with carriers and internal stakeholders.

• Ability to oversee an issue from initial research to final resolution without losing ownership or follow-up.

• Proficiency in working with spreadsheets, transportation management systems, carrier portals, and standard business applications.

• Ability to perform effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

• Position may be located in Atlanta, Charlotte, or Chicago, with consideration for remote candidates.

• 2-3+ years of professional experience in transportation, logistics, freight billing, or invoice resolution.

• Previous experience with LTL billing or carrier invoice auditing is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with LTL pricing, freight classification, NMFC, carrier rules, tariffs, accessorial charges, reweighs, and reclasses.

• Experience in researching and disputing carrier invoice adjustments or freight bill exceptions.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience in reviewing large volumes of transactional data.

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

• Proven track record of strong follow-through, organization, and professional communication.
