Looker Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Maintain and improve LookML models, Explores, dashboards, and reporting assets.

• Oversee the Looker platform, managing user access, permissions, system health monitoring, and operational support.

• Diagnose and resolve reporting and data challenges in collaboration with Data Engineering and business stakeholders.

• Provide enhancements and scalable BI solutions that adapt to changing business requirements and facilitate self-service analytics.

• Enhance platform performance by improving query efficiency, usability, and data model optimization.

• Lead the cleanup of legacy content by identifying and phasing out outdated reports and dashboards.

• Collaborate with InfoSec and internal teams on governance, access reviews, and compliance obligations.

• Develop documentation, conduct user training, and advocate for best practices to foster knowledge sharing and platform adoption.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Practical experience with Looker, encompassing LookML development and administration.

• Advanced SQL capabilities and a solid understanding of relational data modeling.

• Direct experience with contemporary cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, Google BigQuery, or Amazon Redshift.

• Proficiency in Git or platform-native version control for LookML code deployment, branching, and model upkeep.

• Experience working with cross-functional teams to convert business requirements into technical BI solutions.

• Background in managing user roles, access permissions, and governance/security protocols within a BI platform.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Preferred: 8–10+ years of experience supporting enterprise Business Intelligence and analytics platforms.

• Preferred: Proven track record in maintaining and optimizing Looker semantic models, Explores, dashboards, and reporting frameworks.

• Preferred: Familiarity with data pipelines and upstream/downstream data dependencies.

• Preferred: Understanding of BI governance, access management, and data security best practices.

• Preferred: Experience in audit or compliance environments such as SOX.

• Preferred: Strong expertise in query optimization, data quality troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
