Logistics Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Gather, organize, and assess transportation and logistics data from various sources.

• Oversee shipment trackers, logistics dashboards, and KPI reports.

• Aid in the analysis of freight expenditure, shipment volumes, transportation modes, carriers, and project activities.

• Assist with monthly and quarterly logistics reporting tasks.

• Detect data gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for enhancing data quality.

• Support standardized reporting and data management procedures.

• Monitor transportation expenses against project logistics budgets.

• Evaluate carrier quotes and transportation options.

• Assist in freight cost benchmarking and historical cost evaluations.

• Identify and document opportunities for logistics cost savings.

• Maintain shipment and delivery information for ongoing projects.

• Track transportation milestones including scheduled ship dates, pickup dates, transit status, and delivery dates.

• Support project reporting, documentation, logistics planning, and transportation RFQs.

• Monitor and report logistics KPIs, including on-time pickups and deliveries, freight spending, budget versus actual costs, carrier performance, shipment volumes, transit efficiency, logistics savings, and cost avoidance.

• Prepare scorecards and management reports.

• Analyze trends and emphasize potential performance issues.

• Develop and sustain standardized logistics templates, trackers, and reporting tools.

• Document logistics processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures.

• Identify opportunities to minimize manual reporting and enhance data visibility.

• Assist in dashboard development using Excel, Smartsheet, Power BI, or similar tools.

• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives throughout the Logistics organization.

• Internship position supporting logistics and supply chain operations.

• Relevant experience or proficiency in Excel, Smartsheet, Power BI, or similar tools.

• Capability to collect, organize, and analyze transportation and logistics data.

• Ability to maintain shipment trackers, dashboards, KPI reports, cost databases, and project documentation.

• Ability to assist with transportation cost analysis, budget versus actual evaluations, variance assessments, and benchmarking analyses.

• Proficiency in collaborating with Logistics, Project Management, Sourcing, Finance, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
