Logistics Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Gather, organize, and analyze transportation and logistics data from various sources.

• Maintain shipment trackers, logistics dashboards, KPI reports, and cost databases.

• Assist in the analysis of freight expenditures, shipment volumes, transportation modes, carriers, and project activities.

• Contribute to monthly and quarterly logistics reporting.

• Identify data deficiencies and opportunities to enhance data quality.

• Support standardized reporting and data management procedures.

• Monitor transportation costs in relation to project logistics budgets.

• Compare carrier quotes and transportation alternatives.

• Aid in freight cost benchmarking, historical cost analysis, and variance assessment.

• Recognize and document opportunities for logistics cost savings.

• Maintain shipment and delivery records for ongoing projects.

• Track planned shipping dates, pickup dates, transit statuses, and delivery dates.

• Assist with project reporting, documentation, logistics planning, and transportation RFQs.

• Track and report logistics KPIs, including on-time pickup and delivery, freight expenditures, budget versus actual costs, carrier performance, shipment volumes, transit efficiency, and logistics savings or cost avoidance.

• Prepare scorecards and management reports.

• Analyze trends and identify potential performance challenges.

• Develop and maintain standardized logistics templates, trackers, dashboards, and reporting tools.

• Document logistics processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures.

• Minimize manual reporting and enhance data visibility.

• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives within the Logistics organization.

• Internship position supporting logistics and supply chain operations.

• Ability to gather, organize, and analyze transportation and logistics data from various sources.

• Competence in maintaining shipment trackers, logistics dashboards, KPI reports, and cost databases.

• Capability to support freight spending, shipment volume, transportation mode, carrier, budget versus actual, and variance analysis.

• Skill in comparing carrier quotes and transportation alternatives.

• Proficiency in tracking transportation milestones and maintaining project logistics documentation.

• Familiarity with Excel, Smartsheet, Power BI, or similar tools.

• Ability to document logistics processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures.

• Capacity to identify data gaps, inconsistencies, performance issues, and cost-saving opportunities.

• Ability to collaborate with Logistics, Project Management, Sourcing, Finance, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
