Logistics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Identify and model opportunities for transportation optimization for Redwood’s managed clients.

• Conduct engineering studies including consolidation, mode optimization, LTL pooling, center-of-gravity analysis, continuous improvement evaluations, and route/milk-run optimization.

• Analyze transportation data to uncover opportunities and model alternative strategies for network, mode, consolidation, and routing.

• Utilize logistics and operational expertise to create realistic modeling assumptions, assess results, and propose practical solutions.

• Prepare and validate data for engineering studies, which includes location normalization, shipment segmentation, and establishing transportation cost baselines.

• Employ transportation optimization, rating, simulation, and network modeling tools to execute studies and assess opportunities.

• Collaborate with Data Science and Solutions teams to develop tools and processes that enhance Engineering efficiency, quality, consistency, and modeling capabilities.

• Identify potential opportunities through supply chain assessments that consider transportation data and customer priorities.

• Quantify opportunities using consistent savings methodologies and convert findings into actionable recommendations.

• Present insights to customers and internal teams, providing Engineering expertise to assist with implementation planning.

• Work in partnership with Client Success, Data Science, Reporting & Analytics, Technology, Solution Design, Operations, and customer teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Analytics, or a related discipline.

• Professional experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain operations, or transportation engineering.

• In-depth knowledge of transportation operations, including truckload, LTL, consolidation, routing, mode selection, transportation rates, and equipment utilization.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity to apply logistics knowledge to data and modeling.

• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a strong technical aptitude.

• Experience with transportation optimization, network modeling, simulation, SQL, or similar analytical tools is advantageous.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate analysis into clear business and customer recommendations.

• Detail-oriented, inquisitive, and comfortable working with complex transportation data.

• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across technical, operational, commercial, and customer-facing teams.
