Logistics Analyst

📋 Description

• Assist in the enhancement and optimization of Passport's transportation network.

• Conduct analysis of shipment volumes, lanes, pickup locations, weights, pallet counts, capacity, service needs, and transportation expenses.

• Create data-informed routing suggestions that encompass carriers, transportation modes, consolidation strategies, and pickup frameworks.

• Discover opportunities to merge pickup locations, enhance pickup frequency, consolidate freight, and boost truck and trailer utilization.

• Examine transitions between domestic ground parcel, LTL, and FTL transportation.

• Model various transportation scenarios and evaluate their financial and operational effects.

• Maintain routing analyses and recommendations for review by Logistics leadership.

• Assess transportation data from TMS, carrier reports, shipment history, and internal systems.

• Develop and maintain KPI reporting for transportation costs, capacity utilization, pickup and delivery performance, and carrier compliance.

• Conduct analysis of costs at the lane, carrier, and mode levels.

• Identify underlying causes of cost increases, underutilized capacity, service failures, and routing inefficiencies.

• Convert complex transportation data into actionable recommendations for Logistics leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Identify and monitor opportunities for transportation cost savings.

• Create financial analyses and business cases for changes in carriers, routing, modes, and network structures.

• Assist in carrier sourcing, RFPs, negotiations, rate and invoice validation, and benchmarking.

• Oversee carrier performance, routing compliance, service failures, capacity constraints, and missed pickups.

• Support development of carrier scorecards, performance analyses, business reviews, and evaluations.

• Facilitate the implementation of approved carrier, routing, and network modifications.

• Collaborate with Operations, Commercial, Finance, Technology, and external transportation partners.

• Report to the Logistics Director within the Commercial division.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–4 years of professional experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, transportation analytics, freight brokerage, carrier operations, or a related discipline.

• Proficient knowledge of parcel, LTL, and FTL transportation; experience in first- and middle-mile logistics is highly preferred.

• Strong analytical capabilities with proven experience in utilizing large datasets to discern trends, assess alternatives, and formulate actionable recommendations.

• Advanced expertise in Excel and/or Google Sheets, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, data manipulation, and cost modeling.

• Experience in integrating, cleaning, and analyzing data from various sources.

• Familiarity with Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or similar business intelligence tools is advantageous.

• Preferably experienced in transportation analysis, including routing, lane analysis, freight consolidation, load utilization, cost modeling, or carrier performance evaluation.

• Experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS) or similar logistics technology is preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate across functions.

• Proactive and highly accountable, with the capacity to constructively challenge assumptions and leverage data to propose improved solutions.
