This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Prepare and draft ordinances, resolutions, amendments, memos, contracts, pleadings, discovery materials, PowerPoint presentations, and city agenda items for attorney evaluation.
• Oversee a caseload of 100–120+ active matters, which includes providing advice and counsel, drafting advisory memos, responding to departmental requests, managing special projects, reviewing contracts, and handling legislation.
• Monitor, manage, and advance litigation cases effectively.
• Keep an organized report of caseloads for three attorneys and allocate tasks according to their capacity.
• Interpret complex forwarded emails and unclear communications, demonstrating initiative without requiring prompts.
• Liaise with city department leaders and external stakeholders.
• Daily management and sorting of incoming emails.
• Arrange calls, meetings, hearings, city sessions, and project check-ins.
• Highlight deadlines and ensure attorneys and workstreams progress smoothly.
• Coordinate deliverables among various attorneys and support personnel.
• Assign tasks to of-counsel attorneys as necessary.
• Assist with contract drafting, transactional processes, litigation case oversight, and city project management.
• Generate materials for city council meetings, specially convened meetings, election matters, special training sessions, and other municipal requirements.
• Guarantee that all deadlines are met without fail and produce consistently high-quality initial drafts.
• Approximately 2–5 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably within a U.S.-based law firm or legal practice.
• Strong exposure to litigation is preferred.
• Experience in supporting multiple attorneys concurrently.
• Capability to handle a significant volume of active matters while maintaining accuracy and pace.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Outstanding organizational skills, follow-through, and ability to manage deadlines effectively.
• High level of initiative and ability to advance tasks independently without constant oversight.
• Strong judgment in interpreting incomplete or ambiguous requests.
• Ability to manage upward, anticipate attorneys' needs, and proactively identify deadlines.
• High emotional intelligence, professionalism, and a collaborative, low-ego approach to teamwork.
• Experience in government or municipal work is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Comfortable working remotely as a part of a dynamic U.S. legal team.
• Availability to work approximately 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
• Must be located outside the United States.
• Capable of functioning effectively within a U.S.-based legal environment.
