Live Captioning/Streaming Project Manager – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage and supervise live captioning and streaming initiatives from inception to completion.

• Guarantee timely and high-quality delivery of projects.

• Collaborate with broadcast, engineering, IT, and accessibility teams to establish project requirements, timelines, and outcomes.

• Lead the configuration and deployment of streaming infrastructure, captioning tools, and platforms.

• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and regulations regarding live captioning and subtitling.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in real-time during live broadcasts.

• Develop and implement workflows that integrate live captions, transcripts, and translations with live-streamed content.

• Manage relationships with third-party vendors, freelancers, and captioning service providers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in live streaming platforms and encoders, such as OBS, Wirecast, vMix, Wowza, and Restream.

• Knowledgeable in RTMP, HLS, WebRTC, and other video streaming protocols.

• Experience with CDN services like Akamai and Cloudflare.

• Familiarity with both server-side and client-side streaming architectures.

• Strong understanding of real-time captioning technologies, including stenography, CART, and automated speech recognition (ASR).

• Experience with captioning tools such as Ai-Media, EEG Falcon, CaptionSync, StreamText, or similar applications.

• Knowledge of SRT, VTT, and SCC caption file formats, along with best practices for caption positioning, timing, and quality.

• Ability to troubleshoot audio/video quality issues, latency, synchronization challenges, and captioning delays.

• Familiarity with video codecs, streaming resolutions, and bitrates.

• Knowledge of ADA, WCAG, FCC guidelines, and country-specific regulations for live captioning.

• Experience with accessibility features, including closed captions, transcripts, and audio descriptions.

• Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and operate under tight deadlines.

• Strong communication and leadership abilities to collaborate with teams and stakeholders across various time zones.

• A bachelor's degree in IT, Broadcast Engineering, Media, or a related discipline is preferred.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in live streaming, captioning, or a related technical project management role is preferred.
