Live Captioning/Streaming Project Manager – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage live captioning and streaming projects from initial concept through to final delivery, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.

• Collaborate with teams in broadcast, engineering, IT, and accessibility to establish project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.

• Lead the configuration and deployment of streaming infrastructure, captioning tools, and platforms including OBS, Wirecast, YouTube Live, Twitch, and Zoom.

• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and regulations governing live captioning and subtitling.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in real-time during live broadcasts, minimizing downtime and ensuring seamless operations.

• Develop and implement workflows that integrate live captions, transcripts, and translations with live-streamed content.

• Manage relationships with third-party vendors, freelancers, and captioning service providers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Expertise in live streaming platforms and encoders, including OBS, Wirecast, vMix, Wowza, and Restream.

• Knowledge of video streaming protocols such as RTMP, HLS, WebRTC, and others.

• Experience with CDN services like Akamai and Cloudflare.

• Familiarity with server-side and client-side streaming architectures.

• Strong understanding of real-time captioning technologies, including stenography, CART, and automated speech recognition (ASR).

• Experience with captioning tools such as Ai-Media, EEG Falcon, CaptionSync, and StreamText, or similar software.

• Familiarity with caption file formats including SRT, VTT, and SCC.

• Proven ability to troubleshoot issues related to audio/video quality, latency, synchronization, and captioning delays.

• Knowledge of video codecs, streaming resolutions, and bitrates.

• Understanding of accessibility standards such as ADA, WCAG, and FCC guidelines, along with country-specific live captioning regulations.

• Experience with accessibility features in live streaming platforms, including closed captions, transcripts, and audio descriptions.

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and work under tight deadlines.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate with teams and stakeholders across various time zones.

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Broadcast Engineering, Media, or a related field is preferred.

• At least 3 years of experience in live streaming, captioning, or a related technical project management role is preferred.
