Live Captioning/Streaming Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage live captioning and streaming projects from initiation to final delivery.

• Work in collaboration with broadcast, engineering, IT, and accessibility teams to establish project requirements, timelines, and expected outcomes.

• Lead the setup and implementation of streaming infrastructure, captioning tools, and platforms such as OBS, Wirecast, YouTube Live, Twitch, and Zoom.

• Ensure compliance with ADA, WCAG, and regulations pertaining to live captioning and subtitling.

• Address and resolve technical issues in real-time during live broadcasts.

• Create and execute workflows that integrate live captions, transcripts, and translations with live-streamed content.

• Maintain professional relationships with third-party vendors, freelancers, and captioning service providers.

• Guarantee that projects are completed on schedule and meet high-quality standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Expertise in live streaming platforms and encoders, including OBS, Wirecast, vMix, Wowza, and Restream.

• Understanding of RTMP, HLS, WebRTC, and other video streaming protocols.

• Familiarity with CDN services such as Akamai and Cloudflare.

• Knowledge of server-side and client-side streaming architectures.

• Strong grasp of real-time captioning technologies, including stenography, CART, and ASR.

• Experience with captioning tools like Ai-Media, EEG Falcon, CaptionSync, and StreamText, or similar software.

• Understanding of SRT, VTT, and SCC caption file formats along with caption positioning, timing, and quality best practices.

• Ability to troubleshoot audio/video quality issues, latency, synchronization problems, and captioning delays.

• Familiarity with video codecs, streaming resolutions, and bitrates.

• Knowledge of ADA, WCAG, FCC guidelines, and specific live captioning regulations in various countries.

• Experience with accessibility features, including closed captions, transcripts, and audio descriptions.

• Capability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work under tight deadlines.

• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Broadcast Engineering, Media, or a related field is preferred.

• 3+ years of experience in live streaming, captioning, or related technical project management is preferred.
