Litigation Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct investigations and resolve litigation files of varying complexity.

• Oversee and direct the activities of defense counsel to achieve optimal and timely case resolutions.

• Analyze intricate insurance language and legal precedents, determine policy coverages, and set reserves.

• Evaluate and review reports submitted by defense counsel.

• Authorize settlements and manage payment processes within set authorization limits or with management's approval.

• Participate in private mediations, settlement discussions, hearings, and other relevant proceedings as necessary.

• Contribute to regional strategies for cost containment.

• Recognize and comprehend emerging trends and challenges, taking into account legislative changes, interpretations, and severity impacts.

• Provide mentorship and coaching to junior claims staff as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of solid insurance experience managing litigation claims within a Bodily Injury claims context.

• Strong strategic negotiation abilities to facilitate early resolutions without unnecessary delays.

• Capability to quickly evaluate situations and exposures, effectively manage stakeholders, and guide others towards mutually beneficial settlements and agreements.

• Enrollment in, or completion of, the CIP designation is preferred.
