
Litigation Legal Assistant – Evening and Weekend Shifts

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Act as a reserve member of the litigation legal assistant team during periods of absence, vacations, and high-demand times.
• Address urgent overflow tasks, priority assignments, and requests that necessitate immediate attention.
• Ensure all deadlines are adhered to while maintaining exceptional standards of client service.
• Work collaboratively with legal assistants and attorneys to effectively allocate workloads.
• Prepare, draft, revise, and format standard litigation documents and proceedings.
• Diligently manage deadlines, noting them in calendars and keeping schedules current.
• Create document drafts and review both documents and correspondence.
• Open, file, monitor, and organize matter files efficiently.
• Manage communications, including phone calls, emails, and other forms of correspondence.
• Organize and coordinate meetings between lawyers, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare files for meetings and hearings.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in Secretarial Studies or a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Administration or Legal Studies, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 5 years of experience as a litigation legal assistant.
• Previous experience in a law firm is mandatory.
• Proficient knowledge of legal terminology and procedural rules is required.
• Familiarity with insurance law is considered an asset.
• Bilingualism in French and English is essential, with the capability to draft and communicate accurately and effectively in both languages.
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, at an intermediate or preferably advanced level.
• Strong capability to operate in a computerized environment using various software applications, with a readiness to learn new technology tools.
• Knowledge of iManage is a plus.
• Ability to work remotely in a well-structured and productive manner.
• Display rigor, strong attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills.
• Client-focused with excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, along with tact and discretion.
• Maintain professionalism and foster excellent interpersonal relationships.
• Ability to learn quickly, demonstrating proactivity and initiative.
