Litigation Lawyer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Evaluate legal responses related to Japanese litigation, disputes, and contentious issues.

• Analyze the accuracy, completeness, reasoning, and application of both procedural and substantive Japanese law.

• Identify incorrect legal principles, unsupported conclusions, significant omissions, and analysis gaps.

• Compare outputs produced independently by two legal research systems.

• Determine which output more effectively answers the fundamental legal question.

• Review aspects of Japanese court procedures, jurisdictional issues, remedies, and litigation strategies.

• Assess the proper application of legal authorities and principles.

• Rate each output against a standardized rubric.

• Clearly document significant errors and strengths.

• Provide succinct written justifications for evaluation decisions.

• Complete reviews independently within established deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a law firm; 3+ years is preferred.

• Professional experience should be focused on litigation, disputes, or contentious practice.

• Predominantly law-firm experience is required.

• Candidates currently in-house may be considered if they transitioned within the last 2 years after relevant law-firm experience.

• Must be qualified to practice in Japan as a bengoshi or a registered foreign lawyer / gaikokuho jimu bengoshi.

• Strong understanding of Japanese litigation and procedural law.

• Ability to evaluate complex legal reasoning both accurately and efficiently.

• Native or fluent in Japanese.

• Excellent written communication skills with a keen attention to legal detail.

• Comfortable working independently under structured evaluation criteria.

• Capable of completing work within agreed deadlines.

• Adherence to confidentiality and NDA compliance is essential.

• Must refrain from using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, law firm, institution, or other third party.

• H1-B and STEM OPT support will not be available.
