Litigation Attorney – Commercial Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Analyze intricate commercial contract disputes related to breach, performance, interpretation, damages, and associated matters.

• Apply substantive U.S. law and practical litigation judgment to evolving factual scenarios.

• Formulate arguments that align with the relevant procedural stance and underlying case theory.

• Assess contractual language, factual disagreements, and potential remedies.

• Maintain a coherent strategic approach as new information and counterarguments arise.

• Prepare motions, briefs, demand letters, discovery documents, and other litigation materials.

• Produce compelling written advocacy anchored in applicable law and factual context.

• Address opposing viewpoints with clear and strategically focused legal arguments.

• Respond to simulated moves from opposing counsel across multiple engagement rounds.

• Preserve consistency in case theory, factual framing, and litigation strategy.

• Adapt arguments as scenarios, facts, or project direction evolve.

• Efficiently incorporate senior feedback into subsequent drafts.

• Develop rubric items alongside litigation drafts.

• Establish clear benchmarks for strong and persuasive legal responses.

• Identify key legal issues, reasoning steps, and drafting elements essential for high-quality work.

• Utilize U.S. commercial litigation standards when assessing submissions.

• Contribute structured criteria that support consistent legal-quality evaluation.

• Identify procedural inquiries, missing information, and factual uncertainties.

• Highlight issues that require additional guidance from senior reviewers or project leads.

• Differentiate between reasonable assumptions and matters that need clarification.

• Evaluate whether additional facts or legal authorities are necessary before advancing a position.

• Maintain disciplined legal analysis in incomplete or evolving situations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active or lapsed license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

• Minimum of 3 years of substantive post-JD litigation experience.

• Strong hands-on experience with commercial contract disputes.

• Practical drafting experience involving motions, discovery, briefs, and related pleadings.

• Experience managing disputes related to breach of contract, performance, interpretation, or damages.

• Proven ability to draft litigation work products under the supervision of senior attorneys or partners.

• Strong understanding of case theory, litigation strategy, and procedural analysis.

• Exceptional proficiency in written English and professional litigation drafting.

• Experience in BigLaw, boutique, or mid-market law firms is advantageous.

• Federal court litigation experience is beneficial.

• Previous involvement in AI-related legal evaluation or training projects is a plus but not mandatory.

• Work must be based solely on public or synthetic case materials.

• Work must be conducted without using confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, law firm, institution, or other third party.

• Selected candidates should be ready to commence their initial tasks within approximately 24–48 hours of completing onboarding.
