Lighting & Fan Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Generate and design unique lighting and fan collections that align with market demands and category trends.

• Provide design direction that is rooted in research, historical context, and interior design trends.

• Balance creative vision with commercial practicality, manufacturing feasibility, and budgetary considerations.

• Collaborate with the Product Development team to identify assortment gaps, pricing strategies, and finish enhancements.

• Investigate materials, finishes, production techniques, and construction methods.

• Create high-quality renderings, CAD models, technical drawings, and specification packages utilizing SolidWorks, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite.

• Convert concepts into precise CAD models that require minimal interpretation by the factory.

• Review and enhance engineering drawings while maintaining design integrity.

• Apply scale principles across a range of products, from small fixtures to large statement pieces.

• Communicate design intentions with both domestic and international vendors, addressing technical challenges as they arise.

• Oversee sample development from start to finish, assessing prototypes and offering engineering and quality feedback.

• Engage in vendor meetings discussing concepts, materials, prototypes, engineering solutions, and readiness for production.

• Collaborate with engineering and sourcing to achieve performance, quality, sustainability, and cost goals.

• Develop presentations that encompass design inspiration, historical context, competitive landscape, and technical progress.

• Maintain development trackers, timelines, and sample organization.

• Manage multiple projects and development schedules.

• Share research, references, and emerging trends with the creative team.

• Travel domestically and internationally to visit vendors, factories, trade shows, and design markets.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience in product design, ideally within the lighting or ceiling fan sector.

• A portfolio showcasing a unique perspective and taste, preferably featuring complete collections developed from concept to market.

• Demonstrated success in bringing products from concept through production on seasonal development timelines.

• Strong knowledge of lighting construction, materials, finishes, manufacturing techniques, electrical components, and production processes.

• Advanced skills in SolidWorks or similar parametric CAD software, such as Rhino.

• High proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop and InDesign, along with similar rendering tools.

• Proficient in manufacturing documentation, technical drawings, specification development, and production communication.

• Direct experience working with manufacturing partners.

• Ability to interpret trends, historical references, and market insights into commercially viable products.

• Exceptional presentation, storytelling, and communication skills.

• Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of prioritizing multiple development calendars without losing attention to detail.
