This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Evaluate coverage and eligibility for plan members and their dependents.
• Validate the contract terms applicable to each claim.
• Confirm enrollment details and beneficiary data.
• Assess documentation related to proof of death.
• Analyze supporting medical, police, and investigative reports.
• Compute eligible benefits.
• Prepare records in the claims system necessary for claim processing and payment.
• Relay decisions to claimants, beneficiaries, and group clients.
• Assist plan sponsors with inquiries regarding beneficiary appointments and claim submissions.
• Aid beneficiaries and their families in obtaining required documentation.
• Evaluate claims for Group Life, AD&D, Survivor Income, and Compassionate Assistance Program Loans.
• Report directly to the Associate Manager, Life Claims.
• Prior experience in the insurance sector, ideally within Group Benefits and Life/Disability claims.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and the interpretation of contracts.
• Excellent communication, judgment, analytical, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
• Capability to exhibit empathy and deliver outstanding client service.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
• Capacity to manage workload priorities, meet deadlines, and work autonomously or as part of a team.
• Flexible, risk-aware, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and French is advantageous.
• If the selected candidate is based in Québec, fluency in both English and French will be necessary to assist clients from various provinces outside of Québec.
