This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Provide administrative and secretarial assistance to legal professionals.
• Compose letters, legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, subpoenas, and related materials.
• Prepare, assemble, and format documents along with transmittal forms and envelopes.
• Organize documents for submission to the Court.
• Draft Answers, Cross-Complaints, discovery documents, and pleadings as instructed by the supervising attorney.
• Manage attorneys’ calendars, including court dates, appearances, meetings, depositions, and appointments.
• Maintain transcripts, documents, evidence, claims records, legal files, and case activities.
• Coordinate services such as court reporting, copying, delivery, court reporters, expert witnesses, and other specialists.
• Monitor deadlines associated with appearances and daily responsibilities.
• Interact with claims personnel, opposing counsel, clients, adjusters, courts, and other relevant parties.
• Resolve scheduling conflicts and manage rescheduling efforts.
• Classify, sort, and file correspondence, records, and additional documents.
• Operate word processors, transcription software, case management systems, photocopiers, and other office machinery.
• Stay updated on Court rules, procedures, and policies through professional literature and training opportunities.
• Provide support to up to three litigation attorneys.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Basic understanding of terminology, discovery processes, pleadings, and civil court deadlines.
• Strong ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Capability to follow directions accurately.
• Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute.
• Familiarity with legal terminology and management of legal documents, including briefs, summonses, complaints, motions, pleadings, and discovery materials.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills with correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Ability to draft or compose routine pleadings and correspondence.
• Skill in utilizing and processing available resources efficiently.
• Competence in accurately managing and calendaring conflicts across multiple schedules.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Vocational certification or training in the legal field is preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in insurance defense or civil litigation is preferred.
• Relevant experience in the legal field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
• Preferred knowledge of federal and state court regulations and e-filing procedures.
• Familiarity with litigation management software systems is a plus.
• Trial experience is preferred.
