Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Deliver strategic and commercially oriented legal counsel to internal stakeholders and senior management.

• Provide guidance on international iGaming and online gambling laws and regulations across various markets.

• Draft, assess, and negotiate commercial contracts, including agreements related to suppliers, technology, platforms, services, licensing, marketing, sponsorship, affiliates, and vendors.

• Oversee and facilitate contract reviews and legal due diligence activities.

• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate legal risks in international markets.

• Assist with regulatory issues, submissions, and legal obligations in relevant jurisdictions.

• Manage claims, disputes, arbitration, litigation, and mediation across multiple jurisdictions, including coordinating with external counsel.

• Provide strategic advice on dispute resolution and litigation strategies, investigations, enforcement actions, injunctions, and interim relief.

• Offer guidance on data privacy, consumer protection, anti-money laundering (AML), technology, and other regulatory matters.

• Support commercial and strategic transactions through due diligence, risk assessments, and contract evaluations.

• Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda, analyses, and recommendations.

• Collaborate with teams from commercial, compliance, risk, finance, marketing, product, technology, and operations.

• Manage relationships with external legal advisors and local counsel.

• Monitor international legislation, regulations, and developments within the iGaming industry.

• Provide general legal assistance, including issues related to intellectual property and branding.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree in law from an accredited institution.

• Qualified or admitted to practice law in at least one recognized jurisdiction.

• Around 2–5 years of post-qualification experience, obtained through in-house roles and/or at a reputable commercial law firm.

• Solid experience in commercial contracts and general commercial legal matters.

• Proven experience in the international online gambling/iGaming sector, with a thorough understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape affecting online gambling enterprises.

• Experience operating across various jurisdictions and navigating diverse legal and regulatory frameworks.

• Background in managing or assisting with commercial disputes, litigation, arbitration, or mediation.

• Strong grasp of legal risks, with the ability to translate intricate legal and regulatory requirements into clear, commercially viable advice.

• Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, enabling clear explanations of legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Highly organized, commercially astute, and capable of managing multiple tasks and competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.

• Comfortable working independently while effectively collaborating with teams across the organization.

• Bonus points: experience in multiple international iGaming jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks; knowledge of online gambling regulatory issues, licensing applications, or regulatory submissions; familiarity with data privacy and technology-related legislation; in-house experience with claims and disputes; cross-border enforcement of judgments and arbitral awards; technology, digital entertainment, live streaming, or gaming sectors; and experience in high-growth, international, and highly regulated businesses.
